Brooklyn Heights Spotlight

Why Brooklyn Heights?

Brooklyn Heights is a historic neighborhood along the East River, offering stunning views of the Manhattan skyline. Known as New York’s first landmark district, its popularity was boosted with the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge in 1883, and the neighborhood played a key role in the Underground Railroad. Today, many of its classic brownstones have been converted into co-ops, condos, and rentals. The area features the scenic Brooklyn Promenade and Brooklyn Bridge Park, with its redeveloped piers and new residential projects. Despite high property values, Brooklyn Heights continues to attract those seeking pre-war charm, quiet streets, and a quick commute.

Where is Brooklyn Heights?

Brooklyn Heights enjoys a prime waterfront setting, perched along the East River directly across from Manhattan. There is exceptional connectivity, with access to multiple subway lines (2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, R) and the nearby Brooklyn Bridge. The area is bordered by iconic neighborhoods, including the vibrant communities of DUMBO and Cobble Hill.

Pier 2 Roller Skating Rink at

Brooklyn Bridge Park

Friday, March 28th was the re-opening of our neighborhood favorite: the Pier 2 Roller Skating Rink! Back in season after a long winter break, this is the perfect weekend activity for friends & family. Rental roller skates and roller blades are $8/each & start as small as a toddler’s size 6 up + goes as large as a men’s size 15. The views are amazing, and it’s always a good time!

Did you know...

In 1961, the ice cream brand Häagen-Dazs was founded in Brooklyn Heights by two Polish immigrants, Reuben & Rose Mattus. While most believe the frozen dessert company is of German, Danish, Swedish, or another foreign origin, in reality, the name is completely made up & means nothing. The original scoop shop still exists right on Montague Street.
